TMK Certifies Line Pipe for Subsea Applications
OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2009. TMK, one of the world’s leading producers of energy tubulars, announces today that it successfully certified seamless line pipe to the DNV-OS-F101 offshore standard. The certification of seamless line pipe from TMK Volzhsky was carried out by Det Norske Veritas.
The DNV-OS-F101 offshore standard gives criteria and guidance on concept development, design, construction, operation and abandonment of submarine pipeline systems.
The DNV offshore certification applies to both welded and seamless pipe production and is essential for projects such as the Nord Stream, Bovanenkovo–Ukhta, Dzhubga-Lazarevskoye-Sochi and Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok subsea pipeline systems as well as the development of the Shtokman field.
Commenting on the certification, Alexander Shiryaev, TMK CEO, said: “The development of the hydrocarbon resources of the Russian continental shelf combined with the growing complexity and high sensitivity of operating environments demand DNV-OS-F101 certified tubulars. In addition to seamless line pipe, we are also in the process of expanding the mix of certified offshore products to include Volzhsky’s new large-diameter longitudinal welded production. The DNV offshore certification broadens the scope of applications covered by TMK products and allows the company to enter new markets.”
