OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2009. In January 2009, trade balance deficit of Moldova amounted to US 130,8 million, decreasing by US 42 million (24,3%) as compared with January 2008.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, during this period Moldovan export has decreased by 17,2% - from US 86 million up to US 71.2 million.

Import has decreased by 22,8% - from US 261.4 million up to US 201.9 million. Moldovan export to CIS countries decreased by 25,8% - from US 33 million up to US 24.5 million, to EU countries – by 16,9% - from US 49.2 million up to US 40.9 million.

Import from CIS has decreased by 7,9% - from US 100.2 million up to US 92.3 million and import from EU- by 43,3% - from US 110.5 million up to US 62.6 million.

In January 2009, trade balance deficit of Moldova with CIS countries as compared with January 2008 has increased by 1% - from US 67.2 million up to US 67.8 million.

Trade balance deficit with EU states has decreased by 2,8 times - from US 61.3 million up to US 21,7 million. In January 2009, the largest trade balance deficit of Moldova was registered with Russia (US 56.2 million), followed by: China (US 16.7 million), Ukraine (US 14.9 million), Turkey (US 8.2 million) and Germany (US 8.1 million).
