Ice Arena Goes up in Northeast Moscow
OREANDA-NEWS. On 23 March 2009 was announced, that construction of the roofed ice rink Ice Arena designed to contain a school for Olympic competitors is to be completed in northeastern Moscow in September 2009.
“The object has been under construction since 26 October 2007. Under the new state contract, it is to be commissioned in December 2009,” the prefecture of Moscow’s northeastern administrative district said.
The total area of the structure will be roughly 10,000 square metres. According to the design, there will be a 61 x 30 metre ice rink on the ground floor. The first floor will be occupied by a hall for choreography and dance, a training room and a small practice field.
The ice rink will be able to accommodate 186 skaters per shift.
On March 14 the work on the building was checked by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov.
An access road to the sports object will probably be included in the 2009 construction plan after the program of road and bridge engineering is updated by Moscow’s Department of Urban Design Policy, Development and Reconstruction.
