OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2009. During these days the seasonal agricultural works are carried out on the winter wheat fields throughout the country. Grain growers, who concluded the agreements with the local departments of Turkmengallaonumlery Association, are engaged in the agro-technical activities.

By this time farmers in four velayats (except the Dashoguz Velayat) have completed the first and second stages of vegetation watering on 50% of the sown areas. Farmers in the Lebap and Mary Velayats started watering the fields at the third stage.

Pesticides and herbicides were provided to all the grain growing farmers associations in Turkmenistan and applied on over a half of the areas sown with wheat.

According to Turkmenhimiya State Concern, ‘vitamins of fertility’ were supplied to farmers associations by March 1. Each day the enterprises affiliated to the Concern suuply 2,300 tons of nitrogen fertilizers and 1,000 tons of phosphate fertilizers to the regions. Under the contract concluded with Niton Group LLC (USA) 75,000 tons of ammonium nitrate and 25,000 tons of superphosphate were purchased for Turkmen grain growers. At present nitrogen fertilizers are applied on the areas sown with winter wheat.

The field works are carried out in a proper manner in complaince with the relevant agro-technical requirements and standards. This year Turkmen grain growers are planning to reap the rich harvest.
