Meat Production in Azerbaijan Reduced by 4.1%
OREANDA-NEWS. March 20, 2009. For February 2009 meat production continued in Azerbaijan reduced by 4.1% compared to January 2009, but grew by 2.05% if to compare to February 2008 figures.
The State Statistical Committee informs that for February 2009 meat production reached 23,655 tons versus 24,645 tons in January 2009 and 23,180 tons in February 2008. In January-February 2009 it was produced 48,300 tons of meat versus 47,700 tons in January-February 2008 (a 1.2% growth) and 302,800 tons in 2008. In December 2008 it was produced 25,300 tons of meat versus 25,900 tons in December 2007.
“In January-February 2009 it was produced 204,500 tons of milk (versus 198,800 tons (+2.8%) for January-February and 1,381,600 tons in 2008, 189,300 eggs versus 157,700 eggs (+20%) and 1,008.7 million eggs respectively,” the Committee says.
As of 1st January 2009 country’s cattle stock increased by 1.5% up to 2,549,500 heads, while growth of sheep and goats made 1.2% up to 8,203,400 heads. Pig stock reduced by 37.6% to 11,700 heads.

For comparison: as of 1st October 2008 country’s cattle stock increased by 2.2% up to 2,526,500 heads, while growth of sheep and goats made 2.1% up to 8,237,400 heads.
