OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 March 2009 was announced, that CenterTelecom OJSC, working jointly with British Telecom, had completed an urgent project connecting Volvo Automotive Plant located in Kaluga, Russia, to its headquarters in Sweden.

A new optical fiber line with 34 Mbps transmission capacity and basic telecommunications channel built by CenterTelecom in August 2008 have linked network infrastructure at the Volvo Automotive Plant located in Kaluga-South technology park with Volvo’s representative office in Russia and its Swedish headquarters connecting the Russian units to Volvo’s corporate network linking plants producing Volvo trucks all over the world.

A telephone conduit under the Oka River was built as part of the project. The optical fiber line route crossed Sekiotovo village which is a part of the city of Kaluga. The project required allocation of land for construction, design, construction and assembly.

Pavel Repin, Deputy General Director, Commercial Director, CenterTelecom, commenting on the new telecommunications channel, said that expansion of mutually profitable cooperation between the company and its corporate customers is among CenterTelecom’s key business priorities. “This year the company continues its implementation of a program aimed at strengthening and development of partner relations with its major corporate clients. By 2012 CenterTelecom plans to cover 90% of the Central Federal District with its multi-service NGN network. It will allow the company to retain the leading position in the District’s telecommunications market and to provide a full range of the latest telecommunications services to its individual subscribers and corporate customers. The telecommunications infrastructure built in the course of implementation of the Volvo project will allow CenterTelecom to provide digital telephone communications and Internet access services to the population and corporate customers of Kaluga city and in the territory of Kaluga technology park.”
