OREANDA-NEWS. On March 13, 2009 a meeting between the Head of the FAS Russia Mr. Igor Artemyev and the President and Director General of the U.S.-Russia Business Council (USRBC) Mr. Edward S. Verona was held at the FAS Russia. It was devoted to those issues of the Russian-U.S. partnership that were within the FAS Russia's competence, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

During the meeting the main areas of cooperation between the FAS Russia and the USRBC as well as issues concerning the future participation of the FAS Russia' representatives in activities organized by the USRBC in Russia and the USA were discussed. The Parties agreed to carry out mutual activities within the framework of the USRBC on explanation of the Russian competition legislation and the Russian Legislation on Control over Foreign Investments to the representatives of business and legal circles.

The American party expressed its willingness to expand a mutual cooperation on the whole range of issues related to the competence of the Russian competition authority.

Mr. Igor Artemyev also informed Mr. Edward Verona on the last changes in the Russian competition legislation and new powers of the FAS Russia in the field of control over foreign investments under the Federal Law "Procedures for Foreign Investments in the Business Entities of Strategic Importance for Russian National Defence and State Security".
