FAS Found Eldorado Was Engaged in Unfair Competition
OREANDA-NEWS. On March 16, 2009 the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) found that "Eldorado" was engaged in unfair competition by incorrectly comparing the goods distributed by the company with the goods distributed by "М.Video". FAS Russia issued a determination to "Eldorado" to stop disseminating incorrect information, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
Both companies specialize in providing services for selling non-food products in the Russian Federation.
In domestic appliances stores owned by the company, "Eldorado" placed informational blocks in form of comparison of the advertising leaflets of "М.Video" and "Eldorado". The informational blocks contained images, characteristics and prices of the goods of "М.Video" and "Eldorado" that had different consumer qualities. "Eldorado" claimed that the prices of the goods distributed by the company were lower than the prices of the goods sold by "М.Video".
Having investigated all explanations and evidence on the case, FAS Russia concluded that actions of "Eldorado" violated Clause 3 Part 1 Article 14 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" (which forbids unfair competition).
