OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2009. Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov Meets with Members of the Public Dialogue Group ‘Russia-USA: A Look into the Future’.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on March 19 met participants of the Public Dialogue Group ‘Russia-USA: A Look into the Future’ co-chaired by former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yevgeny Primakov. Moscow is hosting the third meeting of this dialogue mechanism created in 2007.

The importance of the dialogue between members of the sociopolitical and business circles of the two countries for the promotion of civil society interaction and the strengthening of trust between Russia and the United States was emphasized and a common view about the necessity of imparting new dynamics to bilateral cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres was expressed. An exchange of views also took place on topical international problems, including the initiative of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev regarding the elaboration of a European Security Treaty, and the situation around the Iranian nuclear program.
