OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 March 2009 was announced, that in Murmansk area in 2008 industrial production level was reduced. Electric power development also was reduced.

Industrial outputs in area for 2008 have made 97 % from level of 2007, and the electric power consumption level for 2008 has made 99,4 % from level of 2007. Such data has promulgated the Ministry of regional development of the Russian Federation.

Economically export-focused Murmansk area depends from mining and an iron and steel industry, fishery, and also Armed forces of the Russian Federation.
