Uzbek, Vietnamese Foreign Ministries Held Consultations to Boost Ties
OREANDA-NEWS. On March 19, 2009 the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Vietnam was held at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Tashkent, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
The sides discussed issues of cooperation in political, trade and economic, as well as in cultural and humanitarian spheres.
They also exchanged views on topical issues of an international and regional nature of mutual interest. The sides noted similarity of positions on topical issues of a global nature, including issues of security and stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan.
Special attention was paid to promising investment cooperation as part of countering the impact of the financial crisis. Specifically, the sides considered opportunities to set up joint ventures, including in the Navoi free industrial zone, as well as to export Uzbek products to promising markets of ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) via Hanoi.
