OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2009. Dmitry Medvedev signed an order on state support in 2009 for non-profit non-governmental organisations involved in developing civil society institutions.

In accordance with this order, these organisations will receive subsidies totalling 1.2 billion roubles (approximately USD 35 million) from the federal budget in 2009, for holding tenders, and, on the basis of the tender results, making grants to other non-profit non-governmental organisations to carry out projects of social significance.

The subsidies will go to five organisations, working on projects in social research, education and culture, legal education, support for low income groups, and youth initiatives.
