Ukrainian Govt Initiates Abolition of 13% Customs Duty on Import Goods
OREANDA-NEWS. On March 17, 2009 The Premier of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko disclosed the Government, at its next sitting, will consider changes to the current tax legislation that are to abolish additional 13% of customs duty on goods carried to the territory of Ukraine. She announced to a briefing in Kharkiv.
According to Yulia Tymoshenko, by the end of week this draft law will be forwarded to the legislature.
Yulia Tymoshenko also reminded some people’s deputies but not the Government had been initiators of the Law on additional 13% customs duty on import. As the Prime Minister explained, additional customs duty on imported to Ukraine goods doesn’t comply with commitments Ukraine had taken before accedence to the WTO.
Yulia Tymoshenko believes unless Ukraine abolishes the import duty, the other countries can impose export limits on Ukrainian goods: “the doors may be also closed for the Ukrainian goods”.
Besides, Yulia Tymoshenko added a meeting of the Great Twenty held within nearest time is to deal with the issues of tendencies towards closing down economic borders between the countries and approval of respective decisions taken in concert.
