Ukraine to Spare no Efforts for Improvement of Forest Fund of Country
OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2009. The Government will spare no efforts to preserve and improve woodland fund of the country. The First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Turchynov announced at a meeting into the problems and prospects of the development of forestry.
As Olexandr Turchynov explained, only after a year the ordinance of the Cabinet of Ministers on termination of issuing the decisions on seizure of land plots and withdrawal of applications issued with violation of the legislation, only in Kyiv region it proved possible to return to the state property about 1.5 thousand hectares of woods.
“The state will be maintaining strict control over every square meter of the woodland,” he stressed.
Moreover, as the First Vice Prime Minister put it, it is of great importance to preserve mountain forests as it appears a protective shield against elemental forces. “Saving of mountain forests is our common deed,” he emphasized. Olexandr Turchynov reminded, since October of last year a Government resolution had been in action, which approves new rules of cutting down of woods of general use in mountain forests of the Carpathians.
