CIS Committee on Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy Meets in Moscow
OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2009. 10th meeting of the CIS Committee on Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy took place in Moscow Mar 12 2009. Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine took part in the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation N.Spassky.
The Committee heard a report on its work in 2007–2008 made by the responsible secretary of the committee A.Tyurin. The parties discussed the key aspects of the Committee’s activities. The priority task of the Committee for the moment is the drafting of long-term program of cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy "COOPERATION „ATOM-CIS“" and the agreement for coordination of inter-state relations in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy in the territory of the CIS.
The parties also discussed a report by the chief designer of NIKIET V.Smetannikov on mobile low-capacity nuclear power plants based on the scientific-technical experience of Russian, Ukrainian, Byelorussian and Kazakh companies.
The next meeting of the Committee is to take place in Minsk in 2010.
