OREANDA-NEWS. On March 12, 2009 At its sitting the Government has approved a series of key decisions that are to facilitate achievement of practical results in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund within nearest time.

The Vice Prime Minister for European and International Integration of Ukraine Hryhoriy Nemyria said to a media conference. In particular, he emphasized, within recent weeks a significant progress has been reached in furthering of cooperation with the IMF.

“I’d like to note that owing to the constructive collaboration of all components of this process during today’s Government sitting we have come to coordinated decisions that will ensure achievement of practical results in returning of the IMF mission to Ukraine and receiving the second tranche within nearest time,” the Vice Premier emphasized.

Hryhoriy Nemyria added, changes into the joint Resolution of the Government and the NBU on order of refinancing of banks in the period of the world financial and economic crisis had been included. Besides, according to the Vice Prime Minister, the Government has made addenda to an ordinance of the Cabinet of Ministers on the issues of participation of the state in capitalization of banks. In addition, draft changes to the Law on the State Budget of Ukraine for 2009 which abolish articles 84 and 86 have been approved.

According to him, at the Government sitting today an issue of securing functioning of the National Bank of Ukraine has been tackled together with representatives of the IMF and the World Bank.

“A key scheme in the course of considering of this block of questions is as follows: independence of the National Bank of Ukraine doesn’t imply the absence of accountability,” Hryhoriy Nemyria emphasized.
