Outlet Mall Will Enter Russian Retail Market
OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 March 2009 was announced, that Fashion House Development and GVA Sawyer purchased a site in Moscow to develop the first Russian outlet mall under the brand name of Fashion House in the immediate vicinity of Sheremetyevo Airport.
“The object is to be built at the main express highway linking Moscow and St Petersburg, in the immediate vicinity of Sheremetyevo Airport. The project developer is GVA Sawyer,” a joint press release of the companies said.
According to the document, the building site has the area of 13 hectares.
Including the value of the site, the first Russian outlet mall is expected to be worth roughly ?100 million. The area of the object to be developed will be about 40,000 square metres. The development is to be divided into two stages. The first one is to be completed by 2012.
An architectural concept of the outlet mall will be designed by Fashion House architect Yan Demier. “Currently, there are no outlet centres in Russia. But we believe there is a great opportunity to open at least 20 such facilities,” Brendon O'Reilly, director of GVA Grimley Outlet Services and Fashion House Development, noted.
GVA Sawyer was reported earlier to erect 10 outlet malls in Russia in 5-6 years to come. The mall chain will start being developed in Moscow and its surroundings as well as in St Petersburg.
