Lietuvos Energija AB to Allocate LTL 120 mln for Investments
OREANDA-NEWS On 06 March was announced, that under the resolution of Lietuvos Energija AB Management Board, in 2009 a total of LTL 120 mln is to be allocated for investments. The bulk part of investments will be directed to the construction and rehab of transformers of the transmission grid, upgrade of power lines and strategic projects of power interconnections as well as modernization and development of Kaunas hydro power plant and Kruonis pump storage plant.
The high voltage power transmission grid must be constantly renovated, in order to ensure the operation reliability of the national power system”, - says Mr.Darius Masionis, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Lietuvos Energija AB. However, according to him, it is important not only to replace the old equipment with the new one, but also to construct lines which will be used for the interconnection of Lithuanian and European power systems: our special focus is the preparation for the interconnections with Poland and Sweden"
According to Mr.D.Masionis, at the moment a technical project for the new 330 kV OH power line Klaipлda – Telрiai is under way, requisite for the interconnection with the Swedish energy system. This link will also ensure a reliable supply of electricity for the entire region of Klaipлda. “Another project of utmost importance is the reinforcement of transmission grid from Kruonis to Alytus, necessary for the power link with Poland, – says Mr. D. Masionis, – the 330 kV double-circuit electricity transmission line will ensure the reliability of this power link.
In 2009 Lietuvos Energija AB is also planning to complete the construction of 110/10 kV Nemunas transformer substation and commence the rehabilitation of 110/35/10 kV Naujoji Akmenл and Kurрлnai, 110/10 kV Ignalina, Рilkas and Savitiрkis transformer substations, pursue the modernization and upgrade of Kaunas HPP projects.
