OREANDA-NEWS  On 04 March was announced, that in January 2009, the balance of loans in the Moldovan economy declined by 936.5 mln leis (3.7%), amounting to 24,186.1 mln leis.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, this reduction is due to the decline in the balance of loans in the national currency by 223.9 mln leis (1.5%) and loans in foreign currency, expressed in MDL, by 712.6 mln leis (6.9 %). The reduction of the balance of loans in MDL was stipulated due to declining balance of loans to the private sector by 89.2 mln leis (1%). The balance of loans issued to organizations involved in financial transactions as well as to individuals has decreased by 86.2 mln leis (8.6%) and 65.7 mln leis (1.4%), respectively.

At the same time, the balance of loans issued to state enterprises has increased by 17.2 mln leis (7%). Expressed in U.S. dollars, the balance of loans in foreign currency has decreased by USD  79.3 mln (8%), amounting to USD  915.2 mln. The amount of loans issued in MDL in January 2009, amounted to 510.3 mln leis, declining by 1 bln 110,3 mln leis or 68.5%. The volume of loans issued to legal entities in foreign currency amounted to 357.4 mln leis (USD  34.2 mln), decreasing by USD 23,2 mln as compared to the previous month.
