OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 March 2009 was announced, that Government of Karelia has received the diploma for active participation in organization of the exposition of the Northwest Federal Dstrict at the Green Week international agroindustrial exhibition. The diploma was signed by plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in Northwest Federal Dstrict Ilya Klebanov. The republic was also awarded with the medal of the exhibition participant.

The Green Week international agroindustrial exhibition was held in Germany from January 16 to 25. It is the largest in the world agroindustrial exhibition.

Annually one of federal districts of Russia makes its presentation at the Green Week exhibition. This year Northwest has shown the best samples of its agricultural products, having presented the largest exposition, and in which Karelia participated for the first time. Official delegation of the republic was led by the acting Minister of Agriculture, Fish Industry and Ecology odf the RK Grigory Manuylov. The delegation included heads of the agricultural enterprises of the republic.

At the exhibition Karelia has presented production of enterprises of food and processing industry, dishes of Karelian cuisine which have caused especial interest of visitors. The republic has made its presentation, having demonstrated the information film about Karelian land, its unique identity and traditions, Grigory Manuylov has made a report, and Karelian folk group Sattuma has performed there.

Karelia's stand at the exhibition was made as Karelian log hut. According to the Northwest Federal Dstrict and results of informal competition, it has won the third place among other stands.

The Green Week exhibition in Berlin has, first of all, enabled the republic to make itself known and negotiate with colleagues from other regions.
