OREANDA-NEWS. On 02 March 2009 was announced, that OJSC Amur Navigation Company had renewed its shipowner’s liability insurance for 21 vessels with the branch of Ingosstrakh in Khabarovsk. The aggregate insurance limit per ship is USD 20mln.

The shipowner has cooperated with Ingosstrakh since 1999. The insurance policy covers its ships in the domestic waters of the Russian federation and the national waters and seaports of Japan, since Ingosstrakh is one of the insurers approved by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) as a company accredited to receive the compulsory MLIT Certificate.

The history of OJSC Amur Navigation Company roots back to more than 150 years ago when the Amur river opened up for navigation. Amur River Navigation Co, a state-owned enterprise, was reorganized into an open joint stock company in 1993.

Currently, the navigation company carries cargo along the rivers in the Amur and Jewish Regions, Khabarovsk Kray and to the north of Sakhalin. The company also handles maritime transportation of international cargos between the Russian ports of Far East and the ports of South-East Asia.

Every year the navigation company processes more than 2 mln tons of cargo and carries about 2 mln passengers.
