OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 February 2009 was announced, that the meeting of the Board of Directors of JSC BTA Bank voted to appoint former Governor of the National Bank Anwar Saidenov Chairman of BTA Management Board. The appointment was made in compliance with Kazakhstan’s Banking Act.

Mr. Saidenov will be succeeding Roman Solodchenko, who has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Management Board.

BTA Chairman of the Board of Directors Arman Dunayev had this to say on the appointment: "Having seasoned veterans of the financial sector on our management team will be a good thing and help us strengthen our position in the market".

In his turn, Mr. Saidenov stated that his first priority would be to use all his experience to help BTA retain its leadership positions in Kazakhstan and CIS.

Born in 1960, Mr. Saidenov graduated from the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University’s Faculty of Economics and University of London and held posts of Banker with the London-based European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, Executive Director of the State Investment Committee, Chairman of Agency for Investments, Vice Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Management Board of Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan, and Deputy Governor and Governor of the National Bank.
