OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2009. In January 2009, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk handled 1.215 million tonnes (-16%, year-on-year).

In the reported period, transshipment of dry loose cargo climbed by 16% to 540,000 tonnes, liquid bulk cargo – fell by 9% to 121,000 tonnes, general cargo – down 36% to 525,000 tonnes. Transshipment of cast iron increased by 3.6% to 86,000 tonnes. Container throughput totaled 20,083 TEU (-52%).

The port of Illichivsk is situated on the North coast of the Black Sea. Its facilities are capable of handling over 30 million tonnes of cargo per year. Multimodal Complex of the port has independent entrances for rail wagons and motor transport. The port can handle and store all foreign trade cargo. It accepts vessels of up to 13 meters in draught and up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. The port provides round-the-year navigation and icebreaking pilotage. In 2008, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk handled 18.904 million tonnes of cargo.
