OREANDA-NEWS  On 26 February was announced, that Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev received President of the National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC Mukhtar Dzhakishev.

Mr. Mukhtar Dzhakishev reported the President on the results of the company’s work in 2008 and informed on the work being done on establishment of a joint uranium enriching enterprise, a vertically-integrated company on production of atomic fuel, construction of a conversion plant, a plant on fuel assembly as well as construction of a nuclear power pant in Aktau.

“In 2008 Kazakhstan surpassed Australia in uranium mining and moved into second place in the world. In the current year our country is expected to take the first place in the world in terms of uranium mining,” President of the Kazatomprom said at a press briefing.
