OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 February 2009 was announced, that recently, the results of Aviation Security Service operation at Tolmachevo International Airport in 2008 were summarized.

It should be noted that provision of security and anti-terrorism protection at Tolmachevo International airport is the priority mission of Tolmachevo airport’s management.

Security control at Tolmachevo airport is carried out by both the authorized stuff of the Security Service and employees of the Department of Internal Affairs including detector dog handlers.

Security of the airport and its infrastructure is provided by the units of Security Department of Novosibirsk Region Militia Directorate.

At present security control zone in the new expansion block of the domestic terminal is equipped with two x-ray-television introscopes for baggage checking. A special security express-control system makes the procedure of preflight control more comfortable for passengers. Airport video monitoring system consists of 217 TV cameras.

In addition to available equipments 16 screen units both for passenger and baggage security control , 8 stationary and 20 portable metal finders, 5 detectors of fumes of explosives, 10 portable detectors of flammable liquids, the device for localization of explosion and the patrol car were purchased by Tolmachevo airport in 2008.

A unique automated information system of revealing suspicious passengers is used during pre-flight control.

Essential measures for provision of security and anti-terrorism protection during the construction of the Runway-2 are being taken.

According to the federal aviation security requirements a special safety zone on the airport’s land side is equipped.

Total amount of investments for provision of aviation security in 2008 exceeded 47 million roubles.

Presently, about 500 employees are engaged in Aviation Security Service of Tolmachevo airport.

Provision of aviation security and anti-terrorism protection of Tolmachevo International airport matches the requirements of Russian Federation legislation in area of air transport security and is aimed on its continues perfection to the extent of the terrorist threats.
