OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 February 2009 was announced, that The 8th session of RA-EU Sub Committee on trade, economic and related legal issues takes place on February 17, in Yerevan.

The co-chairmen were Mushegh Tumasyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Economy on Armenian side and Madeleine Majorenko, Deputy Head of Unit in respectively Directorates-General for Trade and External Relations of the European Commission and Philippe Cuisson, Deputy Head of Unit in charge of EU relations with Armenia of the European Commission.

During the session the parties discussed the implementation of Cooperation and Partnership Agreement and the RA-EU ENP Action Plan, the last economic developments in Armenia, issues on improving the investment environment in Armenia.

The parties in particular exchanged views on the new EU Eastern Partnership initiative, future possible negotiations of a bilateral deep and comprehensive free trade agreement, EU’s granting Armenia enhanced tariff preferences in form of the special incentive agreement for sustainable development and good governance under its Generalized System of Preferences (GSP +) and Armenia’s request for the EU Market Economy Status.
