OREANDA-NEWS  On 25 February was announced, that Moldavian National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced report “Labour force in the Republic of Moldova: employment and unemployment in 4Q 2008”.

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the IV-th quarter 2008 the economically active population  (employed population and unemployed persons) of the Republic of Moldova was 1232,3 thousand persons, less with 17,7 thou. persons or 1,4% compared to the IV-th quarter 2007. The decrease was caused by the decrease in the number of unemployed persons with 18,6 thousand. Disparities in the number of active persons between women and men have not been registered, the number being alnmost equal.  The share of rural population was a bit higher compared to that of urban population (51,5% and, respectively 48,5%).
