OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 February 2009 was announced, that "Oranta" is the first insurance company according to the number of compulsory civil liability insurance policies issued and the amount of insurance compensation.

According to the motor and transport insurance bureau of Ukraine, "Oranta" ranked first among top 10 insurers based on the number of policies issued and the amount of insurance compensation as of January 1, 2009.

“As of January 1, 2009, insurers concluded 6 715 872 compulsory civil liability insurance contracts, which amounts to about 56 % of the total number of all registered transport vehicles. If one excludes the contracts for transport vehicles entering Ukraine temporarily and transiting the country, one can claim the market was 52 % covered in 2008.

Oranta concluded 1 440 492 insurance contracts in 2008, which is 21.4 % of the total number of insured transport vehicles and 12 % of Ukrainian potential market. The insurance premium of the market amounted to UAH 1 277 billion, and Oranta’s share in the premium was 18.4 % (UAH 235.6 million).

In 2008, insurers made 64 749 insurance payouts to the sum of UAH 448 million; "Oranta" made payouts in 11 066 cases to the sum of UAH 81.1 million, which is 18.1% of Oranta’s payouts of the market indices,” Oranta’s Sales Department Director Igor Gruzkoy says.
