OREANDA-NEWS  On 20 February was announced, that the Ukrainian Government elaborated addenda to the draft law “On gas (methane) from coal deposits”, endorsed by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading. Propositions concerning changes to the draft bill have been approved during a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers, dedicated to realization of investment projects.

In particular, the Government suggests creating of attractive investment conditions to carry on economic activity in the area of extraction and utilization of methane, both for national and foreign investors. So, approved document envisages customs, tax privileges for the enterprises dealing with extraction of methane and producers, involved in this area. Besides, it is intended to fix zero rate of income tax and value added tax for the kinds of activity in extracting methane.

The Government proposes also to render state support and guarantees to producers and suppliers of energy, generated from the exacted methane of coal natural fields.

In order to improve safety of works it is planned to introduce a norm which bans development of coal deposits without preliminary degassing.
