Moscow Culture Will Be Accessible to Disabled
OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 February 2009 was announced, that areas with no hindrance for physically challenged people are to be set up in 227 cultural institutions of Moscow during 2009 announced as the Year of Equal Opportunities.
According to the first deputy mayor of Moscow Lyudmila Shevtsova, the number includes 117 objects to be rearranged due to the purpose funds of the Year of Equal Opportunities, 22 – due to the funds allocated for the prefectures of Moscow, 76 – due to the current budget funds.
Besides, 12 new buildings are to be equipped for physically challenged people.
“The theatres, museums, libraries and other cultural institutions which are the most popular among Muscovites are scheduled to be reequipped to provide disabled people with comfort and facilities to move inside them at ease by the end of 2009,” the official noted at City Hall on February 13.
Ms Shevtsova added the buildings were to be equipped for people with orthopedic injuries and sufferers of hearing and visual impairment.
