OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 February 2009 was announced, that Moscow International Airport Domodedovo was awarded first prize in “Best Russian Airport” nomination of the annual “Travel.ru Star” contest (according to the results of the Travel.ru on-line survey).

The only customer award in the sphere of tourism in its kind - the “Travel.ru Star” has been held for the last 6 years. Since its foundation award winners are chosen based on the results of an internet survey. In 2008 over 7000 internet users participated. Domodedovo Airport is at the top of the chart for the second year in a row.

Domodedovo is the largest airport in Russia and Eastern Europe. It features a state-of-the-art passenger terminal offering its passengers services compliant with the highest European standards. Its route network features 207 destinations around the world. The route network covered by DME’s airlines is quite unique: 84 destinations can be reached only and exclusively from Domodedovo. During 2008 regular flights to Chicago, Budapest, Dublin, Abu-Dhabi, Houston, Hamburg, Ostarva, Ivano-Frankovsk and Yokshar-Ola were launched.

One of the main priorities of Domodedovo is ensuring a maximum comfort of passengers both during their stay in the airport and on their way to it. That is why the infrastructure of the airport is constantly being developed, new catering outlets, restaurants, cinemas etc. are being opened. The implementation of the Aeroexpress rapid transport system in 2002 gave passengers the opportunity to reach the airport in a guaranteed amount of time. Good accessibility and convenient connections make DME even more appealing to passengers.

Partners of DME were also presented with the award. Singapore Airlines became first on South-East Asia, Australia and Oceania destinations. Lufthansa won in three nominations: best airline operating flights to Europe, continental Africa and Central and South America. The “Best charter flight airline” with the majority of votes became Transaero. Domodedovo is proud of its partners and congratulates them with these well - deserved awards.
