OREANDA-NEWS  On 18 February was announced, that the Government of Ukraine gained a suit of the President of Ukraine for validity of the Government’s Order “On suspension of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Venco International Limited Company on distribution of hydrocarbon, produced within the limits of the Kerch site of the Black Sea continental shelf plate. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko told, beginning the Government’s sitting today.

The Prime Minister reminded that the Government, when it had come to power, abolished all the decisions of its predecessors that concerned “the stealing of the Black Sea shelf with strategic reserves of the natural gas of Ukraine”.

But, according to the Head of Government, the President of Ukraine had cancelled the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision and by this reason the works on exploitation of the shelf by the National State Owned Company Naftogaz were ceased.

“On 10 February 2009, the Constitutional Court took a positive decision, in other words, the Government gained the suit at the Constitutional Court,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed and noted that, in accordance with the court’s ruling, the Black Sea shelf with all strategic reserves of the natural gas are returned to Ukraine, “At present, there are no decisions on transferring the Black Sea shelf to some shadow mediatory structures”.

“Today we gained the suit at the Constitutional Court and put an end to thieves who wanted to take away Ukraine’s Black Sea shelf with strategic reserves of the natural gas with the help of the previous Ukrainian government,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Yulia Tymoshenko said that the Government continues to successively struggle against corruption and criminalization in the country. The Head of Government reminded that the corruption scheme on the supply of Russian natural gas to Ukraine through the mediatory company RosUkrEnergo had been suspended”.
