SibCOTES Implements Project to Modernize Tynda Substation
OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2009. SibCOTES is undertaking an engineering design for a comprehensive reconstruction of the Tynda electric substation (Tynda area, the Amur region). Reconstruction of one of the largest substations in the Amur region will allow the authorities to reduce maintenance costs, enhance the efficiency of manpower resources, and improve the reliability of power supply within the region.
The design effort poses a significant challenge because the site is located in Tynda city, in the permafrost area where soil freezes down to a depth of 300 meters. In addition, Tynda is located in an earthquake-prone area with seismic ground amplitude from 7 up to 9 points.
The project scope includes the construction of an auxiliary switchboard, DC switchboard, accumulator battery, outdoor transformers and reactors (including the replacement of existing transformers with larger units), joint control unit, telecommunication room, administrative and service rooms, as well as erection of underground oil emergency discharge tanks, fire fighting water storage tanks and pumping station, substation fencing, identity check point, and replacement of entry portals for outdoor switchgear for 220 kV, 110 kV and 35 kV.
The new substation building including the indoor switchgear for 220 kV, 110 kV, 35 kV and 10 kV will be built within the reconstruction project to replace the existing redundant buildings and engineering structures for outdoor switchgear. Modern 220 kV and 110kV gas insulated switchgear will be used for the indoor installations, and factory-assembled switchgear with vacuum breakers will be installed for the 110 kV indoor switchgear.
