SibCOTES Participates in World of MasterSCADA-2009 Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2009. SibCOTES participated in the World of MasterSCADA-2009 Conference held in Moscow on February 3-4, 2009 at the Institute of Control Sciences, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The conference was devoted to the 20th anniversary of INCAT, the global software developer for plant automation. Some 250 specialists from 180 companies gathered from different parts of Russia to attend the plenary sessions which were conducted over two days.
SibCOTES’ Chief Specialist, Denis Krutilin, made a presentation on MasterSCADA implementation for the development of Boiler DCS System at Irkutskenergo CHP-6 plant. SibCOTES had designed and commissioned the DCS system during the 2005-2007 period. The full-featured DCS provides for boiler equipment automated control, with set points unchanged under all operating conditions; safe trip of both main and auxiliary equipment in emergency (process safeguards); remote control of actuating mechanisms; continuous online diagnostics and self-diagnostics of equipment; data export to high level; emergency events logging, parameter divergence logging, as well as daily reports.
Mr. Denis Krutilin noted during his presentation thattheMasterSCADA system has not previously been applied at large-scale power facilities in Russia. The system was selected because of its capability to manage large numbers of equipment points, and run with controllers installed at high-security locations. In addition, TST-11 sensors and TECONIC modules in application with WinCon and MFC-3000 controllers were introduced for the first time.
As a leading engineering company SibCOTES has developed the capability to provide a full range of personnel training aimed at working with computer-aided tools for plant control. The company has a functional DCS testing facility, based on Tornado software and hardware, which simulates a full range of operational functions and tasks. The only difference between the testing facility and an actual power generating unit lies in the number of signals. The testing installation allows the user to test new control schemes; solve problems of functional and group control; and carry out research work. Plans are currently underway for SibCOTES and INCAT to build another DCS testing facility based on MasterSCADA system and MFC 3000 controllers.
