OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 February 2009 was announced, that the sculpture “House of Knowledge” created by world-famous Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa was officially opened on February 5th. The opening ceremony was held at MIRAX GROUP’s Federation Business Complex at the entrance to the Grand Hyatt Moscow Residences and Spa Hotel where the sculpture is installed.

“House of Knowledge” is part of Jaume Plensa’s first solo exhibition at DIEHL + GALLERY ONE in Moscow which run from February 5 through March 5. The sculpture will be available for your enjoyment at the Grand Hyatt Moscow Hotel until June 2009.

The 8-meter high “House of Knowledge” figure is entirely composed of Cyrillic letters in the form of a net inside which the spectator can step. The appearance of the sculpture in the Federation Complex foreruns the opening of the new Grand Hyatt Moscow Residences and Spa Hotel where other fascinating works by modern artists will also be put on display.

“House of Knowledge” travels around the world together with its creator. In 2007, the sculpture was shown in Antibes (France), on the Strip in Miami Beach adjacent to Art Basel Miami Beach, and in Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park (Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA).

“The international Hyatt hotel chain pays a lot of attention to art and places works of famous modern artists in its hotels around the world, - says Peter Roth, General Manager of Hyatt Moscow Residences and Spa, - The Grand Hyatt project in the Federation Complex is unique not only for Moscow, it will be the tallest hotel building in Europe featuring a special range of services. It is symbolic that its opening should be highlighted by the acquaintance of our guests with such a singular and original work of art”.
