Unit №1 of South-Ukrainian NPP Harmonizes with IAEA Safety Standards
OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2009. Such a conclusion was drawn by experts of the Agency who evaluated the level of projected safety of the 1-st power-generating unit of South-Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant from February 1 till 11. Head of IAEA mission for technical safety Gary Johnson (USA) informed during the concluding meeting.
Energoatom pays significant attention to introducing of projects on improvement of safety of the national NPPs, as the First Vice President, Technical Director of Energoatom NNEC Ivan Foltov stressed during the concluding meeting.
He informed the experts about a number of examinations by international organizations such as IAEA and WANO (World Association of Nuclear Operators) and partner checks, taking place on the national nuclear power stations. “After all the missions the Ukrainian NPPs will be “the most checked” stations in the world,” Ivan Foltov stressed and thanked to the international experts for cooperation in the area of improvement of safety of the plant.
The mission comprised 10 leading world specialists in nuclear power energy from Czechia, Hungary, Germany, Croatia, Slovakia and Holland.
