Tajikistan Devaluated National Currency
OREANDA-NEWS. February 10, 2009. National Bank of Tajikistan speeded up the devaluation of the national currency. During the week tadjik somoni devaluated by 4% against USD till 3.82 somoni for 1 USD.
During the month USD increased against somoni by more than 10%. In the currency exchanges of Tajikistan dollar costs 4 somoni.
National Bank of Tajikistan maintains the rate of the national currency by currency intervention. There was spent 50 mln. USD by the state for those purposes. At that the gold reserves of the country decreased almost twice and fell till 200 mln USD.
On February 4 there was informed that Kazakhstan devaluated its currency against USD. At that tenge weakened by 25% against USD. In the beginning of 2009 currencies of the Belorussia was also devaluated against USD. Exchange rate of USD against Belarusian rubl increased by almost 20%.
