OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 February 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ joint venture OAO Spartak, the largest confectionery of the country, increased exports 11.8% on the year in 2008 to U.S. USD 11 million, General Director Olesya Samsonova told reporters.

Spartak ships its products to 18 countries, including markets offering serious competition, such as Germany, Israel, the U.S. and Russia. Exports account for 15% of the output.

The new production line with a capacity of 1 tonne per hour is expected to help increase exports this year, she added.

Exports will be branded Konfetoff. In 2008, Spartak registered Melanie brand for the domestic market.

Spartak was established in 1924; it went public in 1994. In 1998, a joint venture between Belarusian and U.S. investors was established.

Spartak offers 400 varieties of candies, cakes and waffles.
