Cooperation between Karelia and Norway Will Continue
OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 February 2009 was announced, that Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development of the republic Elizaveta Tkacheva has met with the Senior adviser of the Department on Children, Teenagers and Families of Northern Norway Paul Christian Bergstrem. During the working meeting they discussed Karelia's participation in the Risk-Group Children and Youth for 2008-2011 program, directions of further cooperation and activities for 2009. Elizaveta Tkacheva has transferrd the greeting of Minister Valery Boinich to participants of the joint Karelian-Norwegian seminar on preventive maintenance of family ill-being held now in Petrozavodsk.
Paul Christian Bergstrem has informed that the Barents Region Council appreciates results of cooperation within the projects with Karelia. He has acquainted participants of the meeting with changes in work with children occurred within the Barents Region, demographic direction of the new program of cooperation approved by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Norway. Participants of the meeting have pointed out positive results achieved during cooperation on rendering services in the field of public health services and social protection to the risk-group children and families.
Within the scope of carrying out of joint seminars and events within the project (the Incredible Years program) there has been obtained the concept of administration system and organization of practical activities of structures dealing with there problems. There have been defined the most important projects, partnership in which has begun since 2001: cooperation on development of the system of foster homes (2001-2006), new therapeutic methods for children of younger age with behavioral problems (2004-2008), cooperation on development of hospitalization of youth with serious behavioral problems (2006-2010).
This September Petrozavodsk will host the next seminar within the Incredible Years program.
