OREANDA-NEWS. February 10, 2009. The Industrial Railway Transportation Enterprise of the Salavatnefteorgsintez JSC has expressed readiness to render a new type of services – repair of hopper cars.

Self-unloading bunker cargo hopper cars are intended for transportation of mineral fertilizers and other cargoes. The car body has the funnel form, in its bottom part there are hatches through which cargo gets out at unloading.

In Russia the most part of such hopper cars are in technically unsatisfactory condition. The prime reason is presence of aggressive chemical substances capable in short terms to destroy the body of the car by transportation of mineral fertilizers.
- The cars which were in operation cost expensively enough and our partners will spend a minimum of funds for our repair services. For today in our region inquiries of enterprises for services in preparation of railway rolling stock are incommensurably more than capacities of the nearest repair bases. In other words, everybody is wishing to transport something, and "the carload component" – repair and preparation of cars – in a business economics takes not the last place, – IRTE Deputy Director  Roman Galkin says.

The first test hopper at the IRTE has been accepted by a special commission on January 11th, 2009. Advantages of the innovation are obvious: it is economic feasibility of repair of hoppers, including economy of financial funds and time at use of serviceable rolling stock for large-scale urea shipments made by the Salavatnefteorgsintez JSC. Besides, implementation of a new production site will allow to create some tens additional workplaces for qualified employees.
