On 09 February 2009 was announced, that according Ukrtrubprom Association (Ukrainian Pipe Producers Association) preliminary data shows that Ukrainian pipe producers cut production by 48.1% y/y in January 2009 to 84.5 thousands tons. The production also was lower compare to December 2008 (29.8%). Only Khartsyzsk Tube Works < HRTR UZ UR >, the CIS biggest and Ukrainian only extra large diameter pipe producer increased its output y/y (in 9.6 times, the beginning of 2008 was very bad for HRTR), HRTR also decreased production by m/m (17.9%) as well as other pipe producers.

Pipe manufacturers and traders are waiting for spring time when pipe market traditionally revives. January price increase can push the traders to buy right now to make up the stores in expectations of further price rising.
