OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2009. Following the results of 2008, the number of subscribers to broadband Internet access of Vega Telecommunication Group reached 105,000, reported the press-centre of SCM.

In the year Vega subscriber base rose by approximately 50% (in the beginning of 2008 it included 71,000 subscribers). Nearly 95% of new subscribers were connected outside the capital city.

"At the moment Kiev residents account for over a half of overall subscribers of Ukrainian Internet", says Konstantin Kolesov, Director of Business Development of Vega Telecommunication Group.

"Internet access services are not so widely spread in the rest of Ukrainian regions. That's why this area has great potential for development. Our active subscriber base has over 700,000 telephone lines, most of them being located outside the capital city. Therefore next year we are planning to promote Internet access services in the Ukrainian regions".
