OREANDA-NEWS. February 05, 2009. In 2008, the volume of transactions with the bank cards in Moldova amounted to 11 billion 774.1 million leis (US 1 billion 119,2 million), having increased by 43,7% as compared to 2007.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, the volume of transactions with the cards of the local payments systems has declined by 7,9% - from 25,3 million leis (US 2.4 million)-up to 23.3 million leis (US 2.2 million).

At the same time, the volume of transactions with the cards of international payment systems has increased by 43,9% - from 8 billion 165,5 million leis (US 776.2 million) up to 11 billion 750.8 million leis (US 1 billion 117 million).

According to NBM, the volume of transactions abroad with the bank cards, issued in Moldova, has increased by 32,3% - from 561.5 million leis (US 53.4 million) up to 742.9 million leis (US 70.6 million), while the volume of transactions in Moldova with the cards issued abroad grew by 13,2% - up to 1 billion 190,3 million leis (US 113,1 million)- up to 1 billion 347,9 million leis (US128.1 million).
