OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2009. Surgutneftegas’ shares have been included into the NERAX-Eco Index portfolio for 2009 as securities of a socially and environmentally responsible Russian company, reported the press-centre of Surgutneftegas.

NERAX-Eco is a stock index established by the Independent Ecological Rating Agency (ANO NERA) which shows the capitalization of the most environmentally efficient and progressive companies of the Russian exchanges. The first index portfolio was compiled in 2006.

When the list of the companies included in NERAX-Eco since November 2007 was published the average share value of those companies saw a 40% rise against the market level, and that priority was reserved thereafter. According to the assessment results for the environmentally efficient companies in Russia for 2007, Surgutneftegas’ shares were included into the renewed NERAX-Eco listing d ue to the transparency of ecological reporting, eco-efficiency and high tempo of eco-efficiency growth. Surgutneftegas is in the top agency rating of the most environmentally efficient operations and improved methods of negative environmental impact reduction of recent years.

Moreover, during NERAX-Eco assessment of four hundred companies of Russia and Kazakhstan the environmental, energy and economical efficiency of Surgutneftegas’ associated company LLC “SO “Tvernefteprodukt” was also highly appreciated.

“Eco-ratings indicate the company’s attitude to the timely modernization of the production and environmental safety of its activity, in other words towards the future of the company and regions where it operates. They amend financial rating and focus on the quality of production activity,” considers Lyubov’ Malyshkina, Head of Environmental Security and Management Division, OJSC “Surgutneftegas”.
