OREANDA-NEWS. On February 01, 2009 an official document entitled the "Regulations of the Russian Railways for the Commission to consider applications by organisations to open sales points for railway tickets outside the Russian Federation" comes into force, enabling Russian Railways will begin accepting applications from organisations wanting to sell tickets abroad, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

According to the document, organizations wishing to do so can submit the appropriate application to Russian Railways and if it meets the requirements specified in the Regulations, and successfully passes the review procedure, the Company will duly sign a contract to permit the sale of rail tickets to passengers.

Following the conclusion of the contract, the organization will be entitled to sell rail tickets to individual passengers travelling in luxury and compartment carriages and in carriages with seating on Russian domestic routes. Excluded however are trains to and from Kaliningrad transiting through Lithuania and in trains to the CIS countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in accordance with the terms of the contract and at the rates applicable in the territory of the Russian Federation.
