IDGC of North-West and Arkhangelsk Region to Sign Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. February 3, 2009. IDGC Holding, IDGC of North-West and Administration of the Arkhangelsk region are expected to sign the long-term cooperation agreement at the end of February 2009.
The agreement will specify the main directions of development of the grid facilities of the region up to 2013.
The work meeting of Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Ilya Mikhalchuk was held on 15 January in Arkhangelsk city. General Director of JSC "IDGC Holding" Alexander Kazakov, General Director of IDGC of North-West Alexander Kukhmay and top managers of Arkhenergo participated in the meeting.
According to General Director of IDGC Holding Alexander Kazakov, the Agreement "On interaction of the Administration of the Arkhangelsk region, JSC "IDGC Holding" and IDGC of North-West, JSC, at realization of actions for maintenance of reliable electric power supplies and creation of conditions for connection of the Arkhangelsk region consumers to electric grids for the 2009-2013 period" will become a key document as it will contribute to development of the region as a whole.
"Now the Arkhangelsk region consumes around 3.5 thousand MW of the electric power, but the region needs much larger consumption," Alexander Kazakov said. "We are ready to offer constructive ways of solution of the problem which we are going to solve in close interaction with the Administration of the region.
According to Alexander Kazakov, with coming of the new team to the regional management, the solution of issues not simply advances. It is a real breakthrough," Head of IDGC Holding said. "The main thing is to reach mutual understanding on all issues. We do not have insoluble problems and we shall necessarily come to a constructive result.”
"The question of power energy is particularly pointed in the region". Considering that deterioration of electric grids is more than 75 percents, and the need for the electric power constantly grows, it is necessary to build a precise strategy of development of grid facilities. This is necessary, first of all, for reliable life support of the population and trouble-free operation of economic objects," Governor Ilya Mikhalchuk declared at the meeting with power specialists.
The strategic joint plans of power specialists and the Administration of the Arkhangelsk region for the near future also include a creation of the joint generating company on the basis of Mezen diesel power station.
Co-founders of the new company will be Arkhenergo branch of IDGC of North-West and JSC "ArkhoblEnergo". It is expected that the procedures on creation of the joint generating company will be completed by August 2009.
