OREANDA-NEWS. On 30 January 2009 was announced, that OAO “PO “Sevmash” Director General Nikolay Kalistratov suggested establishing Design Bureau for designing offshore platforms.

This proposal was discussed during conference “Prospective of Arkhangelsk region and Norway cooperation” which took place in Arkhangelsk on the 22nd of January. Participants of the forum paid attention on prospective of developing offshore oil and gas platforms for Arctic fields.

Introducing Sevmash possibilities to Norway companies, Nikolay Kalistratov paid attention on absence of specialized design bureau for designing offshore platforms and suggested establishing such organization in Arkangelsk on equity participation of Severodvinsk OAO “PO Sevmash”, OAO “Zvezdochka” and division of Norway company “Aker”.

According to Kalistratov combining efforts of European designers, “Sevmash” Design Bureau and “Onega” allows establishing great structure which can ensure building offshore platforms on Severodvinsk enterprises. Moreover there are possibilities for locating office. It is site of former 176th of Ministry of Defence located in 15 minutes from Arkhangelsk airport.

Design supervision of offshore equipment building for oil and gas production on shelf is not a new program. Project of offshore ice-resistant stationary platform “Prirazlomnaya” underwent 5 revisions in particular due to absence of specialized Design Bureau in Russia. As a result terms of platform building at Sevmash were expanded. In the light of Shtokman gas-condensate filed development the problem of designing offshore equipment is more relevant.
