FAS Checks Wholesale Prices for Sugar
OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2009. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) instructed its regional offices to expand its ongoing monthly price monitoring to cover more goods markets. The antimonopoly authority will also check whether increase of wholesale prices for white sugar is justified, and will start researching the trends on the markets of newsprint paper and commercial cellulose, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
In October 2008 FAS Russia, jointly with its regional offices, started monthly monitoring of the markets of socially important goods (bread, vegetable oil, milk flour).
Initial research findings were published on the FAS Russia's website in December 2008.
The antimonopoly authority also carries our monthly monitoring of prices for mineral fertilizers supplied to domestic agricultural producers. FAS Russia will additionally request financial reporting from producers of mineral fertilizers and their distributors.
This information is required to have a more complete picture of changes of competitive environment in socially important sectors of the economy in order to take prompt measures of antimonopoly response.
