SOCAR to Complete Bakhar-Hovsan-Surakhani Gas Pipeline Testing
OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2009. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is going to put into operation Bakhar-Hovsan-Surakhani gas pipeline within natural gas production increasing programme.
SOCAR informs that the new gas pipeline testing will be finished the other day.
“In the near future this gas pipeline designed for “Severnaya” power station, enterprises and population living nearby Baku, will be put into operation,” it was informed.
The length of the offshore segment of the “20 Bakhar-Govsan pipeline reaches 37 kilometers, and its ground segment Govsan-Surakhani is 12 km. The pipeline with the capacity of 5 million cu m of gas a day is intended for gas supplies for Severnaya thermal power station and other consumers away from Baku.
The pipeline will transport gas from Gunashli field developed by “The 28th of May” Oil & Gas Producer Division.
SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev said that due to these works delivery of gas to the government would increase up to 7 bn cu m and SOCAR would be able to compensate fully the stoppage of gas import from Russia two years ago.
