St. Petersburg Conducted Polar Lights 2009
OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2009. 12th International Innovation Science Conference of Students, Post-Graduates and Young Specialists “Polar Lights 2009” has set off in St. Petersburg.
The 12th International Innovation Science Conference of Students, Post-Graduates and Young Specialists “Polar Lights 2009” set off in St.Petersburg Jan 29 2009. The subject of the conference is “Nuclear Future: Technologies, Safety and Ecology.”
The organizers of the conference are Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, Energoatom Concern OJSC, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Atomprof and the Committee on Youth Policy and Cooperation with Public Organization of St.Petersburg. The partners are the Department of Energy of the United States, CNS MIIS, Atomprombezopasnost, the International Association of Young Power Engineers and Mining Chemical Combine.
Speaker of the Federation Council Sergey Mironov and Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko welcomed the conferees.
“This forum is an important element of the consistent youth policy of our nuclear industry and state. Such forums are an excellent opportunity to employ the capacities of the new generation,” Mironov said.
Kiriyenko said that the objective of the conference was to discuss problems related to the implementation of the strategic tasks set by the government to the nuclear industry. The implementation of these tasks will not be possible without participation of young researchers, specialists and students.
The program of the conference includes:
• thematic meetings,
• mass media contest,
• master class on mass media,
• intellectual BiPolar game “P-N-P,”
• plenary session,
• excursions.
The topics of the thematic meeting are as follows:
• Safety and designing of nuclear reactors,
• Ecological aspects of nuclear industry,
• Prospects of nuclear technologies,
• Nuclear nonproliferation
The mass media contest will cover printed nuclear mass media and corporate web-sites.
Intellectual BiPolar game “P-N-P” is open to all rapporteurs, conferees and guests.
Participation in Polar Lights is a chance for young talented nuclear workers to show their talents and to present their works and ideas on an international level. It is also an opportunity to communicate with experts and to find friends and partners.
